Developers are being sought to take forward plans to build 86 new homes on the site of the former St Mary’s Middle School si on Grange Road in Northampton.
Commercial property agent, Prop-Search has been appointed by Northamptonshire County Council to sell the 6.09 acre site - following the closure of the school nearly a decade ago as a result of an overhaul of the town’s education system - from a three tier to a two tier system. The land is now surplus to requirements and deemed suitable for residential development under local plan policy.

All the former school buildings on the site have now been demolished, with the land having outline planning consent for 86 new homes, subject to a Section 106 Agreement.
The sale of the site is by private treaty with offers being invited - by 30th October 2014 - on an informal tender basis for the freehold interest. Offers should set out any proposed conditions, the identity of the purchaser, financing agreements and timescales.
The former St Mary’s School site was one of a handful of school sites which were identified by the West Northampton Development Corporation - to aid the expansion of the town and deliver approximately 1,000 new homes. The former school was incorporated into St Gregory’s Primary School which retained some of the site to facilitate £3.1 million of new buildings to accommodate the merger of the two schools.
