Another retailer moves into landmark building

Another retailer has moved into part of the former Peter Crisps department store in Rushden town centre, joining Tesco Express and Arabica Coffee House.

Tres Oak Furniture has taken over the former gardening and DIY department, represented by commercial property agency Prop-Search. 

The company is run by Cindy Watkins, her husband Ian - who are both directors - and father-in-law Barry Watkins, who has 40 years experience in the oak furniture business.  The shop also employs two further members of staff.

Mrs Watkins said: “For the last three years we have been based in Earls Barton and prior to that operated on a wholesale basis.  Our business has continued to grow and as a result we decided we needed to move.  The Peter Crisp building is a real landmark in Rushden and we believe we have a great future in the town.”

Tres Oak Furniture says it can completely furnish a home in oak furniture but also sells designer items in pine, ash and leather, as well as accessories such as mirrors and paintings.
